What You Should Know About Driving Through Flood Water
We understand that taking detours can be irritating and time consuming, and that it can be tempting to just go through the water… but is it worth it?

It’s perilous to drive through water, especially if it’s rushing across the road. Your vehicle is quickly carried away. You will also be unaware of the state of the road underneath you. If the water level is more than half the height of a tyre, don’t drive through it. Don’t be the first to jump in if you’re not sure about the depth! Keep an eye out for other vehicles. Drive carefully and steadily if you must drive through water.

Your vehicle may be damaged if you drive through a flooded road. Taking a detour or parking in a safe location until the water recedes is the best option. If your engine stalls while driving through water, you have no choice except to restart it. This can result in serious engine damage. Even if your car is dry, water may wreak havoc on all low-lying components. If you’re driving through deep water, here are some things to keep in mind.

Water can get into the cabin and ruin your car’s interior. Check for wetness in the carpet and other floor-level components. Your car will require professional cleaning if it is moist.

Due to the potential of mildew growth, simply letting the car to dry is insufficient. Bad scents and poor air quality will follow if mould grows in the cabin. In addition to the risk of mold, moist components such as seat brackets are more prone to rust or malfunction.
Deep water can reach the engine compartment and pollute key fluids such as engine oil, transmission oil, and differential fluid if you drive through it. Check the condition of the fluids with the dipsticks. Contamination has most likely happened if anything appears diluted, discolored, or milky.
Call your garage and have your vehicle towed in for a check if you suspect fluid contamination.

Using tainted fluids in a car might result in serious engine damage.
The air filter must be replaced if it is moist or shows evidence of wetness. Engine oil may also need to be replaced.
If you drive through muddy water, mud, grass, road debris, and dirt are likely to attach to the bottom of your automobile. Examine the engine compartment, radiator, suspension, and bumpers. If any part has dirt on it, clean it as quickly as possible. Moist dirt can cause corrosion and expensive repairs if it adheres to metallic components.
Have your brakes inspected by a technician. Dirt and water can get into brake components and cause them to fail. Check for rust and lubrication in the suspension joints.

Check for water damage on any external lights and indicators. If damaged components cannot be cleaned or fixed, they must be replaced. Verify that your car’s backup camera and parking sensors are working properly.
Take your car to the garage if you notice strange noises. You can avoid serious damage and costly fees by conducting an investigation and repairs in a timely manner.

It is better not to risk driving through water because it is risky for both you and your vehicle.

If you’ve driven through water, have your automobile inspected so we can identify and correct any issues. This can help you save a lot of time and money.
