The Trailer for the “They Called Us Outlaws” is out now and and it offers a peek into what will see as country artists share their insights into “Outlaw Country”
Defining a “Outlaw” has been the subject of many debates. The artists interviewed are not claiming to be Outlaws, and the film isn’t claiming they’re all Outlaws but it looks like they have some pretty strong opinions about the movement.
One of today’s biggest stars, Eric Church, talks about the term “outlaw country” in an interview in the trailer.
“I have a love-hate relationship with the term ‘outlaw,’” Eric explains. “The connotation of that is that you’re outside the law. And the real artists, the real songwriters, I don’t think they ever knew what the rules and laws were. They just did what they did.”
Leading the outlaw movement were artists like Kris Kristofferson, Billie Joe Shaver Waylon Jennings and many more.
Some of the biggest names of the movement and members of their family appear in the documentary, as well several current day artists who were influenced by these artists.
It looks like this film will be a great way to spread the word about the Outlaw artists and their defining era to people who otherwise may not know about them.
They Called Us Outlaws is expected to be released in early 2023.
