The Texas Rangers have named a field at their spring training complex after the late Charley Pride. The Charley Pride Field is located near Surprise, Arizona.
Charlie Pride started pitching in the 1950s in the Negro Leagues, and the Minor Leagues for the California Angels and Yankees, Mets, and California injuries ended his baseball career.
He lived in Texas and was a huge Rangers fan. Did you know that they would let him work out with the team? Annually Charlie Pride hosted a clubhouse concert for the staff and the team.
