Starting Wednesday, January 12th through to Friday, January 14th, Carthage R-9 School District will be utilizing the Alternative Method of Instruction for distancing learning, ensuring the safety of staff and students, minimizing person-to-person COVID and Flu transmission. Therefore, Monday, January 17th, there will not be any classes. The campuses will open, and classes will resume on Tuesday, January 18th. Please monitor the Carthage R-9 School District Facebook page and website for further updates.

As I mentioned earlier, the number of positive COVID cases and quarantines among our students and staff are increasing daily to the point we must keep students and staff home Wednesday through Friday this week. Using AMI days, students will have an opportunity to continue to learn as teachers will provide learning packets and assignments.

For Tiger Prep Academy through Sixth Grade, students will complete Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 of the AMI packets parents received at Parent Teacher Conferences in October. Teachers will be contacting families for instructional support. Packets should be returned to school with students on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Junior High and High School students will access their lessons through their school issued Google Chromebooks. Teachers will also be available for support.
Breakfast/lunch will not be available Wednesday. I will update you tomorrow regarding food availability for Thursday and Friday.

As originally scheduled, we will not have school Monday, January 17. Hopefully, the extended break will provide extra time to recover from sicknesses and slow down spreading COVID and other illnesses.
Thank you for understanding the reasoning behind my decision.
