We are sad to report that Baseball Hall of Famer Henry “Hank” Aaron died today, as reported by his daughter, at 86. Aaron was much more than merely a baseball player. He overcame racism in the deep south throughout his career. Aaron received death threats while making his run at Ruth’s record. This fantastic athlete was a role model as he remained humble and graciously powered through all obstacles set in front of him.
Aaron continues to hold baseball’s runs and was a leader batted with 2,297 and total base leader with 6,856. Hammerin’ Hank finished his career with 755 home runs; this record held its ground for decades until Barry Bonds him. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, in 1982.
